The sports ties that bind Carlos Yulo, EJ Obiena and the Philippine national women’s soccer team are deeply tied in history.
The Philippine Sports Writers Association (PSA) will make sure that the relationship will never be forgotten.
The country’s biggest and brightest sports organization will shine a brighter spotlight on the trio, honoring them and 12 others during the San Miguel Corporation-PSA Awards Night at the Diamond Hotel Grand Ballroom.
Yulo took silver and bronze in the men’s vault and parallel bars at the 51st FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, England, while Obiena hit a new Asian height record of 5.94 meters en route to bagging the historic title. bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
The Philippines, meanwhile, earned their first ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup after finishing third in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup under coach Alen Stajcic.

The weightlifting queen and Olympic gold medalist will be honored for the second straight year after winning gold at the world championships.
Yulo, 22, also won three gold medals at the 9th Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar, after he finished first in the vault, parallel bars, and floor exercise, while adding a silver in the all-around.
