Yellowstone Spinoff with Matthew McConaughey in the Works; Kevin Costner to Leave Drama?!?

We have big news about one of the biggest shows on television.

And this news:

Yellowstone may be over.

According to Deadline, Paramount Network may be canceling TV’s top-rated show due to a scheduling conflict with lead Kevin Costner.

Kevin Costner is in the middle of Yellowstone. But this may not happen much longer.

Costner stars in Yellowstone as John Dutton.

He recently won a Golden Globe for best actor for the role.

Paramount also currently has the popular Yellowstone prequel series, 1923 starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, returning for a second season.

The drama was a big hit, averaging 8.2 million same-day viewers for the Paramount Network, better than any scripted show on broadcast or cable networks so far this season.

However, an insider told Deadline that Costner — who initially limited himself to a 65-day shoot in Yellowstone — only wanted to shoot 50 days for the first part of Season 5.

Besides, they only wanted to shoot for a week complete Season 5, which is scheduled to air its final episode later this year.

This attitude reportedly frustrated creator Taylor Sheridan and created tension between Costner and stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille and Gil Birmingham.

As a result, Deadline writes, “Paramount Network has rejected Costner’s latest proposal and has instead made the decision to move on.” [another] show.”

Yes, another show:

Multiple outlets, such as The Hollywood Reporter, are now saying that Matthew McConaughey is in talks with Sheridan for a spin-off series.

The rumor spread so quickly on the Internet that a Paramount spokesperson addressed the speculation about Costner and McConaughey on Monday.

“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that it will be a long time,” the network said.

“Thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s brilliant mind, we are always looking forward to expanding the franchise in the incredible world we have built.

“Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent that we would love to partner with.”

It doesn’t sound that hard Nohow?

The first half of Yellowstone season 5 ended in January after eight episodes.

Sheridan, meanwhile, is at work on two additional spinoffs.

The first, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story is set to follow the true story of the cowboy that inspired The Lone Ranger.

The second show titled 6666 will explore the history of the Four Sixes Ranch, where Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) has worked in Yellowstone.
