Zach Shallcross faced every Bachelor star’s worst nightmare on Saturday night.
Yes, the season 27 lead jetted down to the Bahamas with suitors still, but this trip is not all paradise for Shallcross and women… especially not for the first rose recipient Greer Blitzer.
She expressed concern that her early relationship with Zach had faded, calling it “a fire that burned as fast as it burned” in an on-camera interview.
The 24-year-old also broke down in tears when the group learned that Katherine received a one-on-one date in the episode.
After these two share some kisses and some personal stories about their upbringing, Zach and Kat made out under a bunch of fireworks.
“What really stood out for me is how comfortable Kat is showing who she is, but what she wants and is still alone and having fun,” Zach said in the confessional afterwards.
“This is what I’m looking for. Sometimes what’s too good to be true is true.”
From there, we cut to a beach party themed group date with Aly, Kaity, Ariel, Davia, Genevie, Anastasia, Kylee, Mercedes, Charity, Gabi, Jess and Greer.
At one point, Kylee tells Zach that she overheard Anastasia telling Charity about how many Instagram followers she’ll get from the show.
Enter that Bachelor nightmare and cue the SHE’S HERE FOR THE WRONG REASONS siren.
“That freaks me the f-ck out, honestly,” said Shallcross.
“That’s what I don’t want.
“I’m afraid I’m going to meet someone who’s here for the wrong reasons… not there to love me and have a future, but really there for the fame.”
Zach went ahead and confronted Anastasia about the claims of influence, prompting her to say that she was “hooking up” with Zach and adding to the allegations:
“I’ve told the girls about the brand I’m working with and I said we’ll hook them up.”
The 26-year-old Muffin hit back by saying the accusations “didn’t come out of thin air” and that she didn’t want to be “tricked on this end.”
Then… he left to think about everything he had heard about Anastasia and her motives.
After a solo date with Brooklyn that involved driving an ATV and Brooklyn opening up about her abusive ex, Zach gave this suitor a rose.
At the cocktail party before the rose ceremony, Zach gives Anastasia a chance to tell him how he feels.
