World Cup 2026: Mbappe becomes first French player to reach 100 goal involvements

Kylian Mbappe has etched his name further into football folklore, becoming the first player ever to be involved in 100 goals for the France national team.

The Real Madrid superstar reached the historic milestone during France’s World Cup quarter-final clash against Morocco on Thursday, breaking the deadlock with a clinical finish in the first half. That goal, his 64th for Les Bleus, pushed him past the symbolic 100 mark when combined with his 36 assists for the national team.

According to Opta statistics, Mbappé’s record now stands at an astonishing 64 goals and 36 assists in 103 appearances for France. He is the only French player – and one of the few in world football – to reach triple figures for direct goal contributions at the international level.

The 27-year-old has been in breathtaking form at the 2026 World Cup, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in the tournament so far. He is now the second player in history to score 20 World Cup goals, achieving the feat in 10 fewer matches than Lionel Messi.

Mbappe’s performance against Morocco also saw him become the first French player to make a decisive contribution in seven consecutive World Cup matches. He is also the first player since Gerd Müller in 1970 to be involved in 11 goals in a single World Cup.
