World Cup 2026: Kojo Peprah Oppong proud of Black Stars adventure

Black Stars defender Kojo Peprah Oppong has expressed pride in representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The OGC Nice player hoped the Black Stars would have continued their journey by advancing to the latter stages of the competition.

However, the team fell short at the round of 32 following a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in Kansas City last Friday.

Peprah Oppong missed the match due to injury but featured in the games against Panama, England and Croatia at the group stage.

“Not the ending we hoped for, but proud to have represented my country on the biggest stage and made my World Cup debut,’ he posted on social media.

“Unfortunately, I picked up an injury along the way, but I’m grateful for every moment and every lesson. Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the journey. We’ll be back stronger.”

The Black Stars will now turn their attention to the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, having missed the last edition of the tournament in Morocco.

Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside 2023 champions Ivory Coast, the Gambia and Somalia.
