World Cup 2026: Ghana’s defensive masterclass must continue against Croatia â?? Herbert  Mensah

President of Rugby Africa, Herbert Mensah, has cautioned that Ghana will need to maintain the same level of discipline and tactical organisation against Croatia as they did against England, describing the Croatians as a technically gifted and efficient side.

Speaking after Ghana’s impressive goalless draw with England, Mensah praised the Black Stars’ defensive structure but warned that Croatia would present a different kind of challenge.

“Croatia are a very efficient and technically gifted side. Ghana will have to remain disciplined and organised throughout the match,” Mensah said.

The Black Stars produced a resolute defensive display to hold England to a goalless draw, frustrating the Three Lions’ star-studded attack. However, Mensah believes Croatia’s style of play will require a similar level of concentration.

He highlighted the importance of structure and endurance, noting that tournaments are often won by teams that can execute their plans effectively rather than those with the most talent.

“Croatia will be a tough opponent, but if Ghana can maintain the discipline they showed against England, they have a strong chance of securing a positive result,” he added.

The result leaves Ghana level on points with England at the top of Group L, with Croatia just one point behind. A draw against Croatia would almost certainly secure Ghana’s place in the knockout stages for the first time since 2010.

For the Black Stars, the message is clear: discipline and organisation will be key to continuing their historic run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
