World Cup 2026: Black Stars return to Rhode Island as focus shifts to England showdown
The Black Stars have returned to their base in Rhode Island after opening their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama in Toronto.
Ghana’s squad arrived in Massachusetts in the early hours of Thursday before heading straight to their team camp in Providence, where preparations for their second Group L fixture against England are already underway.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has scheduled a recovery training session at Bryant University on Thursday evening as the players begin their build-up to one of the biggest matches of the group stage.
The Black Stars head into the England clash full of confidence after Caleb Yirenkyi’s stoppage-time winner secured all three points against Panama, giving Ghana a winning start to the tournament.
Queiroz praised his players’ determination and resilience following the victory, while forward Antoine Semenyo has already turned his attention to England, insisting the Black Stars are ready to “prove a point” against one of the tournament favourites.
Ghana know another positive result would significantly strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stages before their final group match against Croatia.
The Black Stars will remain in Providence for the next few days, using their training base at Bryant University to fine-tune preparations before travelling to Boston for Tuesday’s meeting with the Three Lions.
