Police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman in the Free State over the death of her ex-boyfriend who was found murdered in his yard on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
Around 8:50 a.m. on Sunday morning, police found the body of a man in his 50s in the yard of the house the woman was renting. The woman lives at home in Tseseng village, Malekunutu division with her son.
However, the body was found by the owner of the house. It is believed that the deceased sustained two injuries to his head.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the incident was immediately reported and police soon identified the deceased as Mxolisi Mthombeni (50), who lived in Phomolong, next to the Tseseng shopping complex.
Mophiring confirmed that Mthombeni was the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
Mother and son asked
“The mother and son were questioned, but they said that they had not seen the deceased for the past few months. The mother insisted that she and the deceased were no longer in contact,” Mophiring said.
Mophiring said after investigations, the police managed to link the woman’s new boyfriend to the murder. On Wednesday, the new boyfriend was arrested.
He has appeared in the Tseseng Magistrate’s Court and faces charges of murder.
Boyfriend allegedly killed 15-year-old girl
Meanwhile, in the North West, the boyfriend of a 15-year-old girl was also arrested on Wednesday after she was found murdered and buried in a shallow grave in her backyard.

The boyfriend was arrested the same day and charged with murder, perjury and defeat of justice. He is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The teenager, Karabo Monyama, was reported missing by his family on Sunday after he failed to return home from a soccer match at a field near his home. Searches were conducted around the neighborhood and area of Cyferskuil without success.
