In pursuit of the Premier Volleyball League title, Chery Tiggo strengthened its defense a few days after losing its most important offensive weapon, acquiring middle blocker Seth Rodriguez and libero Bingle Landicho as the Crossovers prepare full steam for the All-Filipino Conference that starts on Feb. .4.

Playing behind the stars in Petro Gazz, the 5-foot-10 Rodriguez will come to Chery Tiggo’s camp looking to blossom into a star and make Crossover a better team that can slug it out with the league’s heavyweights.

“Since then, I’ve always heard from the coach and other people that I have potential. Personally, I don’t want to end with potential,” said Rodriguez in Filipino as he and Landicho made three big marks for Chery Tiggo, who also welcomed Ponggay Experienced Gaston.

“I experienced many ups and downs, being at the top, falling short in the years of Petro Gazz,” said Rodriguez. “As an athlete, I want to explore, check my potential and maximize it with Chery Tiggo.”

The fifth team

This will be Rodriguez’s fifth team counting Pocari Sweat from 2017 to 2018 followed by a year with Marinerang Pilipina in the Philippine Super League before moving to Petro Gazz, where he was part of the team’s Reinforced Conference title.

“I want to come out of my shell and learn from this decision to move. Hopefully, I will discover my potential,” said Rodriguez. “I was inspired by Cza Carandang after he boomed as a middle blocker. I hope I can also reach that level in the program.

With Dindin Santiago-Manabat leaving the squad to join Akari, Chery Tiggo is now left to shoulder the bulk of the scoring burden on Conference Most Valuable Player Mylene Paat.

Landicho, was a service specialist first before moving to full-time libero with Akari in the past conference.

Petro Gazz has now lost two of its leading figures following the transfer of star Myla Pablo to F2 Logistics.
