Could Uxbridge be the next election?
The betting market above on whether there will be a Uxbridge by-election is just about one place at the moment where you can take a punt on Boris Johnson’s political future. He must have been the MP sitting here.
We are very close to the Commons Privileges committee looking at some of the statements that Johnson made on key issues which are the final report and recommendations.
The committee has a Tory majority but is chaired by senior Labor figure Harriet Harman. What we have seen so far does not look good for the former prime minister and the question now is what he will recommend. If it is a delay. for Johnson, how will Tory MPs respond?
If Johnson is suspended as an MP, there could be a recall petition among voters in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituencies that could lead to an election.
Guess Sunak won’t be happy with this.
