Governor Wike’s service from River Country has vowed to challenge the dissolution of the Ekiti State Exco of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Mr. Wike stated this on Saturday at the State PDP rally in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Kali State.
Flanked by Siminialayi Fubara, PDP State governorship candidate in a video posted on TwitterMr. Wike warned Mr. Ayu that suspending people from the party will not help him and dared the national chairman of the party to suspend him or his colleagues, apparently referring to members of the G5 group.
“The battle lines have been fully drawn. As I speak to you, we will do everything legally to challenge any decision that we know is illegal.
“So, don’t think you can threaten someone who says something like that, so that person is hanged. rubbish! Done rubbish,” said Governor Wike.
In a statement issued on Friday, Debo Ologungba, PDP spokesperson, disclosed dissolution from the Ekiti State executive of the party.
Mr. Olugungba also announced that the National Working Committee of the party has set up a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party in the state.
Mr. Wike, who said Mr. Ayu’s actions were meant to intimidate party members, said he would challenge them because he believes in the rule of law and the party must abide by the constitution.
“So, we’re waiting for you to announce yourself and the rest of your friends. Like I said, if someone says you’re not going to sleep, they’re going to sleep too? Are you going to sleep? Are your friends going to sleep? So don’t worry, we have the capacity to repay. We have the capacity to tell you enough,” Mr. Wike said.

Governor Wike, a member of the PDP fell out with the party leadership after the presidential primary which he lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The governor also fell out with Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate, for reneging about the promise to ensure the exit of the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Ayu, to pave the way for the southern side to emerge as the national chairman of the party.
Mr. Wike is now leading the G5, a group of PDP governors including Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) who are demanding to replace Mr. Ayu with a southerner to achieve “regional balance” since Messrs. Atiku and Ayu are northerners.
The G5 governor, who was appointed to Atiku’s campaign council, retreat members and boycott inauguration.
G5 in November, in Abia State, declare to support a southern presidential candidate for the 2023 election, a decision he said is in line with the agreement reached at the southern governors’ forum that the president of Nigeria should come to the south in 2023.

Governor Ortom, member of the G5 has approved the Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi for next month’s presidential election.
Mr. Wike who is the leader of the group has promised open the lid the preferred presidential candidate in January (this month).
