Why we formed the APC: Tinubu | The Guardian Nigeria News

As the general election approaches, the presidential candidate of the All progressive congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday explained why he together with other party supporters formed the party in 2014.

Tinubu said aspirants should strive to sweep the polls to achieve the desired goals of the party.

He said: “We formed the APC, not just another political party. We formed it as a champion of the people to rescue democracy from the destruction of the PDP who proudly ruled the country for 60 years.

“We created this party to save the people and their collective prosperity from the cruelty and greed of the elites who will destroy the endowment given by God if we allow these people to return to power. As those who fly the flag of the party, we carry a heavy burden on our shoulders.

“We have a mandate to deliver the party to victory so that we can protect Nigeria from those who will eat all the fruits. The party has given us confidence. Democratic victory in the coming elections is a task that must be done.

The presidential leader called on the party’s candidates to go to the polls starting from the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections to the March 11 gubernatorial and state assembly elections in a united front.

According to him, everyone must work together for the party’s victory in all elections to ensure that the party’s growth and development project for the nation is guaranteed.

Tinubu promised to continue working for everyone even though he also wants to be the president of Nigeria.

“But winning brings us to work as a united force. We must act like a broom, the symbol of our party. A stick cannot clean any dirt, but together as one, we can get rid of all the bad and wrong things that hinder the growth and development of the nation .

“As individuals, we must strive to win the election. But that is not enough. We must work together to deliver all those who contest in our party. The presidential election, for example, is not only about Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is also your job. The election you are similar to my project.
