Why we dissolved Labour Party’s structure in Jigawa – Governorship candidate

District Governor candidate Labor Party (LP) in Jigawa State, Abdullahi Tsoho, who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said members of the party in the state collapsed structures to protest the neglect of the ideology that the party was formed.

PREMIUM TIMES reported Mr. Tsoho’s defection came just hours before the visit of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, who is expected to campaign in the state on Friday.

Mr. Tsoho was received by Jigawa Governor, Muhammad Badaru, and the APC governorship candidate in the state, Umar Namadi, at the Government House.

Mr. Tsoho said he joined the APC together with his partner, a senatorial candidate, a Labor Party house of representatives candidate and the state party chairman.

“We withdrew the candidate from LP and merged him into APC as a tribute to what Badaru did to the people of Jigawa State.

“We are defection on behalf of the people, our defection is unconstitutional. We call on all members to vote for APC from top to bottom.

“The Labor Party was formed based on ideology, but recent events show that it is a personal and regional affair.

“This also means that we cannot continue in the party, I am a working man but there is no longer any ideology in the Labor Party.

“We are doing a workers party not based on tribalism, regionalism, but what we are seeing now is that the party is experiencing negative aspects that make us not continue.

“We decided that no party should be in opposition in Jigawa, because initially, we did not participate in the election for our reasons, but for the will of the people.

“The reason we are decamping is because we are following the will of the people who made us join the APC,” said Mr. Tsoho.
