Were William and Kate Late to the Coronation?

In Saturday’s coronation choreography, William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are expected to arrive outside Westminster Abbey at about 10:45 am. before the stars of the show, King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

However, Charles and Camilla went up to the monastery in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and then, rather awkwardly, did not get off. However, the royal couple remained standing for around five minutes, as cameras caught an aide chatting with Charles who appeared confused about the delay.

Are William and Kate late? Or did the king’s coachman arrive early? Not one of the hundreds of journalists walking around the broadcast booth outside Buckingham Palace didn’t know that. But for a while, it looked like the Welsh were AWOL.

“We’re frankly hoping to see it before this time,” NBC’s Savannah Guthrie told “Today” viewers, though William and Catherine are definitely slated to be among the latest. “So we’ll see how this all unfolds.”

Finally, a car pulled up and dropped William and Catherine and their children – George, Charlotte and Louis – at the convent.

There was no immediate comment from the parties involved, so reporters were left to speculate. Some TV commentators said that they recognized in William and Catherine the faces of angry parents. Others raised the prospect of traffic jams, even though the surrounding streets were deserted of cars.

Hours later, it was unclear whether Wales were technically late. But it wouldn’t be a royal event without rumours.
