The Proteas’ ODI series against the West Indies is one of the biggest talking points this week The Wargaweekly sports podcast.
Under Heinrich Klaasen on Tuesday, the SA team beat West Indies in the third ODI to level the series 1-1 after a rain-soaked first match.
Though Klaasen and guys like Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma have bowled well throughout the West Indies tour of South Africa, the batting department remains a major concern. The Proteas have so far relied on one big performance per match.
Next up for the Proteas is a three-match T20 series against the Caribbean, starting on Friday. The other matches are Sunday and Tuesday.
Then there are the all-important two ODIs against the Netherlands, a match the Proteas must win to give themselves a chance of automatic qualification for the World Cup in India later this year.
Also on this week’s podcast, hosted by Trevor Cramer and with guest, Jacques van der Westhuyzen, Head of Sports at The Wargaand senior writer Ross Roche, we look at the return of this weekend’s United Rugby Championship and what the match means for the four sides of South Africa, the Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers.
Of course, Bafana Bafana are also in action on Friday in the first leg of their Afcon qualifying campaign against Liberia, at the Orlando Stadium.
As usual, the panel picks the star player of the week and the man and woman (or organization) that failed.
