We will not allow you to throw Ghana into chaos – Gyampo to NIA
A political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampo, has vowed not to allow the top hierarchy of the National Identification Authority (NIA) to throw the country into chaos with the problems that characterize the production of Ghana Cards.
The NIA in a statement called the political science lecturer blackmail after criticizing his work.
In his counter statement, Professor Gyampo warned, “you can laugh at yourself and laugh just to protect your job. But some of us will not allow you to throw Ghana into chaos and flee the country with a Diplomatic or Service Passport”.
He added, “I never thought that I was big or important to get that kind of attention from all the institutions that were supposed to be busy focusing on registering the under-registered, who ended up queuing long, paying money, and near stampedes at the NIA headquarters”.
He demanded the top NIA officials to work in the interest of the country.
“Professors must analyze things from a holistic point of view. There are two sides to every coin and when we seek to build Ghana, our efforts must be aimed at protecting national interests and not tout one that is supposed to be a highly contentious achievement,” Professor Gyampo advises.

Dear NIA,
I saw a very official statement of the response of the shirt to my loud with Prof. Attafuah in Newsfile two weeks ago. I never thought that I was big or important to get that kind of attention from all the institutions that are supposed to be busy focusing on registering people who have been lacking in registration, which ended up in long queues, paying money, and close to stampedes at the NIA. headquarters.
NIA, your response is covered in half truths and this is what we call propaganda. You can laugh at yourself and laugh only in an effort to protect your job. But some of us will not allow you to throw Ghana into chaos and flee the country on Diplomatic or Service Passports.
Please join the opposition party leaders again and stop living in the past. Comments from Jerry Rawlings and co, were given in the past and no one qualms with the relevance of the Ghana Card. Indeed, before Prof. Ken Attafuah got his appointment, some of us had argued that all ID cards should be synchronized into one card. So, it is not a big deal if other famous statesmen and women appreciate the move of having a Ghana card.
However, what is at issue is the disagreement over the use of the Ghana Card as the sole source document for voter registration and the fact that the NIA has an insurmountable challenge that top officials only share privately. We need a Ghanaian card but let’s hurry. There is no point in this inordinate haste that creates unnecessary suspicion that tends to lead to implosion, because the use of the Ghana card alone, as a source document for voter registration, can have a major impact on the electoral fortunes of political parties. .
Instead of quoting what dead founders of political parties have said in support of the Ghana Card, let the NIA listen to the voices of the living on the dangers of intransigence and refusing to build a consensus on the use of the Card as the sole document for voter registration. Let NIA and Prof. Attafuah not use eloquence and big English to dismiss the challenge that stares at us in the face. Prof. Attafuah was in parliament and he saw the reaction of the minority group. Using one side of Dominic Ayine’s argument on the radio to support the counter view that, the NIA does not have a confidence deficit, is quite disingenuous. Professors should analyze things from a holistic point of view. There are two sides to every coin and when we seek to build Ghana, our efforts must be aimed at protecting the national interest and not to tout achievements that are supposed to be highly contentious.
