The family of four-year-old Bokgabo Poo, who was raped and murdered in Benoni last year, will have to wait until March 30 for answers about the child’s horrific murder.
Ntokozo Zikhali, 28, is accused of raping and murdering Poo, whose body was found mutilated. He appeared in the Benoni District Court yesterday on the matter adjourned for the instructions of the director of public prosecutions (DPP) yesterday.
instructions
Prosecutor Elizabeth Bisi said she is still awaiting instructions from the DPP on whether the matter will be tried in the regional court or the high court.
Bokgabo’s mother, Tsholofelo Poo, said she only hoped the matter would proceed to the High Court for trial. He said he is looking forward to the next court date to hear how far the investigation has gone. “One day you wake up and it feels like a dream.
“You pinch yourself and the next day it’s a reality that you can’t hear the voice and you can’t put him down. Don’t shake it,” said Tsholo.

Family spokesperson
Family spokesperson Themba Seya said that after burying Poo in December, they still don’t know where his body parts are, including his legs, arms and intestines. “
We don’t know what happened, but the investigation is ongoing. “We need the truth to come out. We still have hope that we can find another body part,” said Seya. She said that the family believes that Poo’s death was a ritual killing because of the missing body part.
This view is informed by the body examination performed by the family, he suggests. “There’s no way she was raped and killed and that’s it. “When we look at the body, you can see that something was done,” she said. Seya said that despite public protests from community members, no Zikhali family members could approach her.
“We haven’t heard anything from his family. “We heard he has a mother, he must have a sister or brother, but no one has seen it,” he said.
But she said she believes one day she will find out what happened to Poo. “They [Zikhali] finally he has to tell the truth and the people who work for him have to come out.
“If the truth comes out, we can heal and we can forgive. “We can’t continue to live like this. “How many children are killed like this and how many children are used for rituals?
“We have to stop. “Today is Valentine’s Day, but we can’t smile, we can’t laugh because there are things we still have to deal with.”
Safety measures
Meanwhile, Tsholofelo said after renaming the park where his child was abducted to Bokgabo Park, he wants the park to be safe and dedicated to children. “It’s definitely very safe for the kids,” Tsholofelo said. “I expect the city to install proper fencing, proper supervision and have people watching the children when they play in the park,” he added.
Magistrate Rauwane Motsomane adjourned the matter to March 30.
