
There were many fashion moments during the Grammys this year, and artist Nomcebo Zikode was among the richest.
Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman won Best Global Music Performance for their song They said.
Dressed to the nines for the award ceremony, Nomcebo wore a classic Gert-Johan Coetzee dress when she posed next to Zakes and Wouter holding the Grammy trophy.
Coetzee revealed the process of making the beaded dress and the details used in the traditional Zulu-inspired dress that were praised by fashion watchers.
‘Clothes’
The style and design of Nomcebo Zikode’s clothing is similar to Coetzee’s past designs.
Celebrities such as Bonang Matheba, Lizzo and Cardi B have worn the same beaded design for events and other occasions.
Nomcebo’s brown beaded dress was finished with a dramatic feather train.

Coetzee posted a video showing the concept of the dress, the process of making it, how it is handmade and the final result.
He wrote: “Clothes.
“The dress is made from vintage beaded silk that has been in my archives for years and this was the perfect opportunity to use it.
“It’s completely embellished with Zulu beads mixed with pearls and crystals all in a delicious toffee color that really just plays with its own texture.
“I let the dress splash into a train of beautiful South African ostrich feathers mixed with rooster feathers in blue. So it’s a beautiful juxtaposition between caramel brown and sparkling blue to bring this whole look together.

Nomcebo thanked the designer for the amazing dress: “it really made waves in LA”.
At Jerusalem the vocalist has had several photo-ops with celebrities such as singer Doja Cat, rapper Rick Ross, Jacob Collier and entrepreneur Tobe Nwigwe.
