Rapper Nadia Nakai and her late boyfriend, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, have never been shy about expressing their love and an old video has surfaced of their deep relationship.
AKA and his longtime friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot outside the popular Wish Restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road on Friday, news that has shocked the entertainment industry and the country.
AKA and Nadia have been together for over a year.
Since her tragic death, fans have shared Nadia and Aka’s strong bond, with videos of how they met and fell in love re-emerging on social media on Valentine’s Day.
How AKA and Nadia fell in love
The two are seen cooking together for an episode of Inside SA where Aka and Nadia are cooking mac and cheese.
The clip focuses on his love for cooking.
He shared his memories of when he started cooking, as AKA said he started cooking because the kitchen was where he could be “artistic and creative”, including his love for cooking shows.
Nadia shared that her mother’s background, who is Zimbabwean, influenced her to cook and prepare traditional food.
AKA and Nadia are seen smiling and laughing throughout the video and loving Asian food. Nadia says their first date was a romantic dinner at AKA’s house, when he cooked a bok choy dish for her.

“You are very romantic,” said Nadia.
How they met
Nadia details that they met more than 10 years ago when she was working Icon in 2013 and he was interviewed by AKA.
The couple doesn’t remember who asked who first, AKA said: “It happened organically”.
When asked what he likes most about Nadia, he replied: “How caring she is, how loving she is, how family oriented, how God oriented and how much she wants to make me a better person”.
Nadia said that she likes the leader of AKA very much, “he is very strong in his beliefs and the way you think is the right way to do things. I have to learn a lot from you”.
The pair talked about why they got matching tattoos a few months ago. AKA explains the decision to have a matching tattoo because it means “for life”.
The interview concluded that Lemons for Lemonade the rapper said it was the most romantic of the two.
Nadia has yet to comment on the tragic death of her partner.
