Sam’s Club, an American members-only retail warehouse club owned and operated by Walmart Inc., is now jumping on the digital and blockchain bandwagon by filing crypto and NFT trademarks.
Sam’s Club is now treading on crypto waters as the retailer has recently offered a healthcare service that is compatible with augmented reality and the virtual space. Popular retailers filed a couple of trademark which will allow to manage NFTs, offer digital goods, and also provide crypto-based software.
Walmart Sam’s Subsidiary Club Link With Blockchain
Sam’s Club, founded by Sam Walton, has a million members from all over the world. It was established in 1983 and was created to help entrepreneurs get the products they need quickly and conveniently.
In early 2018, Walmart has shown interest in jumping into blockchain waters, specifically with the launch of Bulkcoin, which is exclusive to Club members.

In 2022, Sam’s Club expressed interest in making a foray into it metaverse with the first round of trademark applications corresponding to NFTs and cryptocurrencies. In addition, the retail chain has also decided to close some stores as it plans to expand into the e-commerce space, looking to compete with the retail giant, Amazon.
Walmart has filed several trademarks with the following records: 97775152 and 97775159. This is all in preparation for the Club to start offering virtual reality or blockchain-based goods.
Digital goods include home decor, personal care products, toys, and sports equipment. In addition, the membership-based warehouse group will also enter the augmented reality, education, healthcare, NFT, and cryptocurrency businesses. It is also planned to launch blockchain-based wallets as well as other software.
Amazon, Another Major Company Enters Crypto Space
In addition, Walmart is said to be hiring to fill several cryptography and cybersecurity roles for its blockchain initiative. Open positions include Cybersecurity and Cryptography Engineer, Technical Expert, Advanced Systems Engineer, and Cybersecurity.

last month, Amazon announced plans to launch its own NFT program. The e-commerce behemoth is set to introduce the program in April this year. In addition, Amazon is also working on NFT and blockchain-based gaming applications.
Another household brand seems poised to jump into the crypto space. Several companies have joined such as WMG, Nike, and Fidelity. Nike has been a huge success for its NFT store launched last year as it managed to generate $185 million in sales after launch.
