Derek Jeter need to get hit REALLY badly, OK?!
ex New York Yankees shortstop continues The Tonight Show on Wednesday to hang out with the longtime host Jimmy Fallon. And when he was on the set, the former great Yankee revealed something very interesting – and salacious – about the playing career!

At one point, Jeter sat down for an on-show game with Fallon and the singer Rita prayed. The game is called “True Confessions,” and all three stars are given two envelopes – one containing the truth and one containing a lie. Then, he reads the envelope he chose, and the other two on stage have to figure out if he’s lying or not.
Jeter went first, took the second envelope, and read aloud:
“I once wore a thong in public in front of thousands of people.”
Umm…. wow!
No and Fallon were thrown by the statement, and both responded that they thought the story was false. But Jeter revealed something else, saying:
“That’s the truth.”
Wow!!!
Jimmy was beside himself, and said at one point:
“What are you talking about? What in the world?!”
So, the superstar shortstop settled in to tell the story. As he recalls, it all happened in 2004, when he had a slump at the plate during the summer:
“I’m going to regret playing this game, but I’ll explain. I had a new friend that I played with in 2002, and he always had a gold thong hanging in his locker. And he told me, ‘anytime you’re struggling, you wear a thong. gold, you’re guaranteed to get it.’ Now, I thought the man was crazy. So, in 2004, I had the worst attack of my career. And every day, I went in, and he pointed to the thong. So, I ended up wearing a thong. Now, it’s not a thong-to-the-skin . I had shorts on underneath. So I put a thong over my shorts. First pitch, home run.”
Damn Yankee Doodle!!
But what correct correct?!?! After all, there is no way to verify!

So, it turns out that the gold thong talk seems legit!! In a 2015 interview with Newark Star-Ledgerex MLB slugger Jason Giambi – who played for the Yankees from 2002 through 2008 – explained it which gold thong And he confirmed that he actually gave Jeter during his slump in 2004!!
Giambi told the newspaper at the time:
“Golden thong is legendary. He’s never had a hit. Well, it’s just, you know, it’s his first slump. I don’t think that man has ever had a slump in his career. He’s unbelievable. You know, golden thong, he has to out of it.
The slugger also confirmed in an interview nearly eight years ago that Jeter did in fact play the first pitch while wearing a gold thong:
“I never gave it to anyone. I sometimes put it in my locker. Sometimes I will say that I will give you a golden thong if you don’t get out of this slump. Sometimes I’ll spoil it because she doesn’t want to wear a gold thong. And it usually just ends up in the locker. And whoever wears it has got a hit. I just knew the first pitch, the home run and the slump was over.
How about that?! Golden thong! Who knows??
