The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced for the information of the general public, especially students who wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) last year, that the provisional results of the examination have been released.

As school and private candidates write the exam, WAEC sends the results of school candidates to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directorates of Education, while private candidates can be accessed on the WAEC website.

The board announced that the subject results of 416 school candidates and 3 private candidates have been canceled “due to the offense of either bringing foreign material into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates”.

The subject results of 38 school candidates were also withheld.

Unfortunately for some 73 school candidates and 2 private candidates, all the results have been cancelled.

Eleven others have all results withheld.

“Results withheld from candidates may be canceled or released based on the results of the investigation.”

WAEC continued in a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon that the scripts of candidates from 40 schools in certain subjects are being examined.
