Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has appealed to civil servants to choose candidates from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to maintain the development agenda of the current administration.
Mr Ikpeazu made the call on Thursday during a town hall meeting with workers at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
He said that the State Government under his watch has developed several policies and programs that will improve the welfare of the workers.
He said: “On March 18, you have to choose continuously because, if you play with your future, you have also put your duty into practice.
“I owe it to you as a duty to remind you of the consequences of reckless behavior when you elect the next governor.
“I have ordered between now and seven days for civil servants’ leave benefits to be paid.
“Although I am giving command promotions to everyone, implementation will be easier, if you elect the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Okey Ahiwe.”
The governor thanked God for the close relationship between the government and civil servants and praised him.
He thanked them for playing an important role in the infrastructure development recorded during his tenure.

According to him, Mr. Ahiwe will prioritize the welfare of workers, if elected.
He urged them to elect candidates with good records of stewardship and not give mandates to individuals who will jeopardize the future.
Mr. Ahiwe, in his remarks, assured the people that the command promotion announced by the governor would be fully implemented, if elected to power.
He promised to serve the country diligently and develop programs that will promote human capital development and increase productivity.
Responding, the Head of Service, Onyii Wamah, thanked the governor for his friendly attitude towards civil servants, and promised that the workers would support Mr. Ahiwe in the upcoming elections.
