Gospel musician Piesie Esther says winning the top Artiste of the Year award at this year’s Ghana Music Awards is a done deal for her as she has worked harder than her competitors in the year under review.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz at the Nominee announcement party held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) Grand Arena yesterday, March 18, artist W’aye Me Yie said his work in the past few months is proof that he deserves the award. VGMA Artiste of the Year crown.
“Ghanaians know the work I did last year. I am one of the busiest gospel artists playing all major gospel shows in Ghana including private shows and in churches.
“I had two successful shows in Accra and Kumasi and from the record, W’aye Meyie is very high among other songs by other artists.
“W’aye Meyie is a national hit and very popular in every corner of the year,” Piesie Esther confidently told Graphic Showbiz.
Piesie Esther is up against the likes of Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Camidoh, Stonebwoy, King Promise, Joe Mettle and KiDi, who is the Artiste of the Year.
The 27 awards are expected to be presented at this year’s VGMA which will take place at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) Grand Arena on Saturday, May 13.
People like Kofi Kinaata, Wendy Shay, Gyakie, Lasmid, Kelvyn Boy, Camidoh, Perez Musiq, Celestine Donkor, Evans Scott were nominated in various categories.
Categories for VGMA24 include Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Afrobeats Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year. , Rapper of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
