Uniswap Labs has announced plans to release a new independent custodian mobile wallet that will give users the ability to swap layer-1 or layer-2 networks without having to switch blocks.
According to Uniswap Labs, the wallet will allow users to check price charts and search for tokens on various networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Optimism. To ensure maximum security, Uniswap Labs works with Trail of Bits to audit wallets. In addition, seed phrases and private keys from imported and newly created wallets will be encrypted and stored on the device using Apple’s Secure Enclave, which is excluded from device backups. Uniswap also revealed that users will be able to manually save their seed phrase with a paper copy or encrypt it and store it in iCloud.

Despite having approved the first build in October, Uniswap Labs has faced problems with the Apple App Store regarding the mobile wallet. Although other crypto-swapping wallets have been approved, the last developer of the Uniswap mobile wallet was rejected by Apple just days before its launch in December 2022.
Uniswap Labs indicated that they responded to Apple’s concerns, answered all questions, and said they were in compliance with the guidelines. However, Apple still hasn’t announced the launch, and Uniswap Labs remains in limbo. As a result, it offers early access to several thousand Testflight users while they wait for Apple to approve the launch.
Uniswap’s note on the announcement:
“Apple won’t give us the green light to launch and we don’t know why. We’re stuck in limbo.”

On Feb. 6, Cointelegraph reported that Uniswap community members voted to use Uniswap v3 on Boba Network’s layer-2 protocol on Ethereum, which means Boba Network will be the sixth chain to deploy Uniswap v3. The movement is supported by several entities, such as GFX Labs, Blockchain in Michigan, Gauntlet and ConsenSys.
