Athletes from the national team have the right to receive a monthly allowance that sometimes does not arrive on time.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richard Bachmann will not be under his watch.
“There will be no delay in the financial support that the PSC provides to the athletes,” Bachmann said during the first flag-raising ceremony as chairman of the 12 sports institutes on Tuesday.
“This allowance is the most important thing to help the athletes. If there is a delay in the athlete’s allowance, you can also delay my salary. If I say that there is no delay in benefits, I will complete it,” added Bachmann.
The newly installed PSC leader also disclosed plans to bring back free food from national team members and encouraged PSC workers to approach him for any related issues.
“I do my best work when I’m in the field, talking and listening to the people I have to serve,” said Bachmann, who celebrated his 55th birthday Wednesday.
“I prefer to go to the athletes, and I encourage the commissioners to do the same,” he said. INQ
