UK’s Johnson bags lucrative deal for tell-all memoir | The Guardian Nigeria News

He has long been working on completing his promised biography of William Shakespeare, but now Boris Johnson is turning his life story closer to home: his own.

Britain’s former prime minister is set to write a memoir “like no other”, according to Arabella Pike, publishing director at William Collins’ imprint HarperCollins, which has acquired the rights.

“I look forward to working with Boris Johnson as he writes an account of his time in office during some of the most important events in Britain today,” he said.

There is no date set for the release of the memoir, nor a figure given for the financial advance, which is likely to be returned.

Johnson, 58, was forced out of 10 Downing Street in September, and his supporters have been agitating for his return, even though he withdrew from a leadership challenge against Rishi Sunak in October.

Rival publishers Hodder & Stoughton will be hoping he uses his newfound free time to revive Shakespeare’s books.

Johnson has missed several deadlines after reportedly making good progress in 2015.
