As Russian missiles hit cities and tanks lined the streets, many Ukrainians were forced to flee their homeland.
In an exodus unparalleled in recent European history, more than 1.2 million Ukrainians have sought sanctuary in neighboring countries since the Russian invasion began last week, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said on Friday.
But many others continue to struggle.
The Ukrainian government has imposed martial law and requires men aged 18 to 60 to remain in the country to defend against Russian attacks.
That led to heartbreaking scenes at train and bus stations across the country as children said goodbye to their fathers and wives said goodbye to their husbands.
