UFC President Dana White speaking after a recently released video showing him slapping his wife, Annewhile the two were on vacation in Cabo San Lucas this past weekend.
The MMA exec and his wife had been drinking together in New Year’s celebrations at a nightclub El Squid Roe in the Mexican resort town there was an evening when the incident occurred. On Monday afternoon, TMZ published a video of the incident, which quickly spread on social media. And now, White has it.

In the clip, the couple can be seen in the upper balcony area of the club. At one point, Anne held her hands over her face in apparent disapproval. Then, Dana is seen holding his wrist. He responded by slapping her. He returned the slap even harder, and then viciously slaps her over and over before the bystanders quickly intervene.

In a new conversation with a media outlet also published Monday afternoon, White admitted to a physical altercation. He apologized and explained his actions. First, he tries to give context to the event:
“My wife and I went out on Saturday night on New Year’s Eve, and unfortunately, this happened. I am one of those men, you have heard me say for years, there is never, ever a reason for a man to put his hands on a woman, and now here I am TMZ talk about it. My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years, we have known each other since we were 12 years old. Obviously we’ve had problems together, we have three kids and it’s one of those situations where it’s horrible, I’m embarrassed, but it’s also one of those situations where now, we’re more concerned. about our children.”
Then he explained how he focused on his wife and children after the video was released:
“We have three children and obviously since the video came out, we have shown the video to the children. Now we are more focused on the family. People will have their opinions about it, and most people’s opinions will be right, especially in my case. You never laid hands on a woman. My husband and I love each other, it’s been a long time. We’ve known each other since childhood, and this is just one of those unfortunate situations.
Witnesses at the club told the outlet that the couple appeared to be intoxicated. White admitted in an interview with TMZalso.

He said it happened “in less than a minute.” After, he claimed, he and Anne reconciled and continued to vacation together in the following days:
“There was definitely a lot of alcohol involved, but there was no excuse. I literally didn’t make any excuses for it. It never happened. It was the first time it ever happened, and people are going to say what they’re going to say. It is what it is, and whatever people say I deserve it. I deserve it. It happened. I don’t know why it happened.”
The UFC executive also added that he and Anne have apologized and are focusing on their families:
“My wife and I have apologized. We apologize to the kids, and that’s one of the things that everyone will do. I don’t care what other people think about it. Now the main concern is the children and taking care of the family. That is the beginning and the end. We are still on vacation. We are obviously best friends, he is my husband and we have had too much to drink, and whatever happens that night happens. It’s over and done with.
according to SB Bangsa war coverage outlet MMA Fighting, police were not involved after the altercation and “no charges have been filed against anyone” over the incident. The outlet also notes that it “doesn’t appear” club security is involved. However, friends and bystanders seem to have pulled the pair together quickly.

White’s comments for TMZ concludes by returning to emphasize his focus on his children:
“Obviously, this is one of the situations, shame for yourself but what worries you more is the children. No one knows you better than your children know you. They grow up in your house, see everything, hear everything, know everything. Everyone always asks if I care about this, do I care about this? My inheritance and all the other things with this work are of no use to me. It’s all about your family. It’s about your wife and children. This situation too, everyone will have opinion. We’re just worried about our family and focusing on the kids now. But me and my wife are doing really well, we’re doing well.”
Anne also issued her own statement about the incident. He told me TMZ that never happened like this for a couple before, and asked for privacy from UFC fans:
“Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years. To say this was out of character for him is an understatement – nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we drank too much on New Year’s Eve and it got out of control, on both sides. We have talked about this as a family and apologized. I just hope people will respect our privacy for our children.
From Monday night, MMA Fighting that report Business – the company that owns a controlling interest in the UFC – has not issued a statement about the incident or the potential punishment Dana could face.
