The drug faces a lawsuit that could see FDA approval roll back
The Supreme Court on Friday preserved women’s access to drugs used in the most common abortion method, rejecting a lower court ban while lawsuits continue.
The judge granted an emergency request from the Biden administration and New York-based Danco Laboratories, maker of the drug mifepristone. They are seeking a lower court ruling that would invalidate the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone.
The drug has been approved for use in the US since 2000 and more than five million people have used it. Mifepristone is used in combination with another drug, misoprostol, in more than half of all abortions in the US
