
Two people were killed on Sunday morning when a light aircraft crashed near the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Gauteng.
The accident was reported by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (ARCC).

Emergency services responded to the scene, along with the South African Police Service (Saps) and the Civil Aviation Authority.
Two passengers died
There were only two people, as confirmed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) on Sunday.
SACAA said the plane “departed from Grand Central Airport in Gauteng on a training flight with the intention of returning at the same airport”.
“There were two passengers on the plane at the time, both of whom suffered fatal injuries. The plane sustained considerable damage”.
An investigation is underway
SACAA said the Accident and Incident Investigation Division (AIID) is investigating the matter. A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days.
Meanwhile, Emer-G-Med spokesman Kyle van Reenen said three people were killed.
“Emer-G-Med paramedics along with various emergency service agencies are currently on the scene of a light aircraft crash. […] Unfortunately, three people have lost their lives”.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the aircraft was found in wreckage and the three occupants were pronounced dead on arrival.”
