“There are many people alive, confirmed by thermal cameras. The building, where national handball player Cemal Kütahya and his family, Hatayspor manager Taner Savut and football player Christian Atsu, is very large with a capacity of 1000 people. tabloid reports.
Earlier on Monday, it appeared that Atsu had been trapped in the rubble after the earthquake that devastated Turkey.
Atsu, who plays for Turkish club Hatayspor, was trapped in the rubble along with the club’s sporting director Taner Savut.
However, after several hours of searching for the duo, it was reported on Tuesday morning that the Ghanaian was finally found alive and is being treated in hospital.
The news didn’t last long as other updates suggested the report was false and the footballer still hasn’t been rescued.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey said the only Ghanaian not found after the earthquake was Atsu.
Francisca Ashietey-Odunton said there are not many Ghanaians living in areas affected by natural disasters, with the majority having been safely evacuated.
“I am happy and grateful to let you know that, apart from Christian Atsu, all Ghanaians have been considered. There are not many people in the area, and many of them are students. he said, as quoted by Ghanaweb.
“Our hope and intention for today is to evacuate to Ankara and Turkey because they are currently in a very good makeshift structure. What we are doing now is to evacuate to take care of them.
Also, Ghanaian international player Mubarak Wakaso and his close friend Atsu have issued a statement asking for the footballer’s family’s privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
