Atsu, who signed for Turkish side Hatayspor in September 2022, was confirmed dead by his agent, Nana Sechere after 12 days of “disappearance”.
The former Newcastle man lives in an apartment in the city of Hatay, which suffered major damage in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

The 31-year-old before suffering this tragic incident was featured in a match against Kasimpasa SK on February 5, 2023, scoring the only goal of the game to give his team the win.
This sad event has affected many Ghanaians after the contribution and sacrifice Christian Atsu made for his country both on and off the field.
He made 64 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring ten goals and nine assists.
