Tucker Carlson responded with predictable outrage to Donald Trump’s indictment, describing the country as worse than the deadly uprising at the US Capitol.
“If you believe in our system, and you want to continue, you have to raise your hand and say stop,” the host of Fox News said on Friday night. “Because this is a huge attack on our system – bigger than anything we saw on January 6th, that’s for sure.”
Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on Thursday for his role in the 2016 cash payment to Stormy Daniels. The porn actor received a $130,000 payment before the 2016 presidential election in exchange for keeping quiet about allegations he made with Trump a decade ago.
Charges against Trump have not been announced, but the New York Times reports that Trump faces more than two dozen.
Carlson has joined Trump in describing the investigation as a politically motivated witch hunt orchestrated by Democrats. He has also repeatedly criticized the violence of January 6, 2021, the efforts of Trump supporters to cancel the 2020 election, and recently described the rebels as “sightseers.”
