As federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in New York prepare for the possibility of Donald Trump being criminally charged for paying porn stars, the former president took to social media and said he expected it. jailed Tuesday.
Trump called the leak from the Manhattan district attorney’s office “corrupt” and called on supporters to protest on his behalf.
“THE LEADING & FAR REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, WILL BE ARRESTED HERE ON TUESDAY,” Trump wrote on social media site Truth Social early Saturday morning. “PROTEST, BRING OUR NATION!”
A grand jury has heard testimony related to the 2016 payoff for Stormy Daniels in the State Criminal Court in lower Manhattan, but no public announcement has been made about when or if Trump will be indicted. Law enforcement agencies in New York have made security arrangements in case the former president is criminally charged.
If indicted, Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, would be the first former president to face criminal charges.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to comment. Trump’s attorney Joseph Tacopina declined to comment.
