Canadian on ‘once in a lifetime’ experience attending Trump UFC event

Dion Ryan, a 19-year-old from Thompson, Man., was excited to attend the White House UFC event with a friend, telling the CBC’s Katie Simpson he was ‘freaking out’ when he found out he won tickets.

Some young Canadians are among the fan fest crowd. 

Dion Ryan, a 19-year-old from Thompson, Man., said he never expected to get tickets as a Canadian. 

“I was freaking out, I thought it wasn’t real,” he said. 

Ryan said he’s been representing Canada, telling people about what it’s like where he’s from, and everyone has been “super friendly.” 

“It’s incredible, to be a Canadian, to be in this event.” 

His friend, 21-year-old Drew Zimmerman, said he jumped at the chance when Ryan invited him to come along to D.C. 

“I’ve been a UFC fan for a long time, so, dreams come true,” he said.
