Former President Donald Trump mocked the 2024 Republican candidate – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – for approaching him “with tears in his eyes” when he asked for his endorsement in the state’s 2018 gubernatorial election.
The former president, who described himself as “loyal,” told supporters Saturday in Waco, Texas, that an emotional DeSantis had low poll numbers before seeking his endorsement in Florida’s 2018 gubernatorial race.
He then broke the begging impression of DeSantis’ request.
“[He said,] ‘Sir, if you agree, I will win. Please, please sir, endorse me.’ And I said, ‘Okay, let’s try,'” Trump told supporters.
