Trump Dodges Jan. 6 Question, Boasts Of Polls At Mar-A-Lago Party

Former President Donald Trump ignored questions about the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol and bragged about it. “fantastic” poll numbers at the New Year’s Eve party at the Mar-a-Lago resort.

What’s most embarrassing for Trump is that he offered a “media availability” at Mar-a-Lago and none of the cable news outlets (including right-wing Newsmax) covered it, Raw Story reported.

The fringe conservative media outlet Right Side Broadcasting Network sent a video of Trump said only a few minutes for what sounded like some reporters outside. He slammed the FBI, called for “strong borders,” and opposed aid to Ukraine against Russia’s invasion there.

He “walked away from the question of how the second anniversary of this week of January 6 violence and the alleged coup attempt in the US Capitol should be observed,” reported The Palm Beach Post. He also ignored questions about whether he supported abortion bans and about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ call for an investigation into the COVID-19 vaccine.

Trump turned his greeting to Mar-a-Lago members worshiping at the venue into a political speech as he attacked inflation and the “raging” war in Ukraine. He also took an unvarnished dig at Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for failing to get more flights from privately held Southwest Airlines in recent weeks.

The Palm Beach Post pointed to the lack of celebrities who have attended Trump’s parties in the past, reporting that the top attendees were the usual suspects in political circles, such as Rudy Giuliani, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, and his second eldest son. Eric Trump and his wife, Lara.

Trump still believes he can drive the media and continues to act like he’s president in his “Barbie Dream House” at Mar-a-Lago, a longtime confidant told The Washington Post last month.

He was surprised that his comments were not played on the news, according to an aide. In early 2021, Trump reportedly asked advisers if he could invite a press pool like the one at the White House for a Mar-a-Lago event.

“We had to make it clear that he no longer had a group waiting for him,” a former aide told the Post. “The network doesn’t do rallies. They don’t get interviews anymore. They can’t stand under the wing of Air Force One and gaggle [with reporters] an hour.”
