President Donald Trump warned Thursday of “interesting times ahead” while accusing former President Joe Biden of making it challenging for Ukraine to defeat Russia.
“It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invaders country,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offense. There is no chance of winning! It is like that with Ukraine and Russia.”
Trump then slammed Biden over his handling of the Ukraine war. He repeated his claim that the war would’ve “never happened” had he remained in office in 2020.
“Crooked and grossly incompetent Joe Biden would not let Ukraine FIGHT BACK, only DEFEND,” Trump added. “How did that work out? Regardless, this is a war that would have NEVER happened if I were President – ZERO CHANCE. Interesting times ahead!!!”
Biden’s aides didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
Trump criticized Biden’s decision as “stupid” weeks later.
“I don’t think that should have been allowed, not when there’s a possibility — certainly not just weeks before I take over,” Trump said during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort last December. “Why would they do that without asking me what I thought? I wouldn’t have had him do that. I think it was a big mistake.”
Despite Trump’s repeated criticism, Biden insisted that he and his administration “gave [Ukraine] everything they needed to provide for their independence” during an interview with the BBC in May.

“We gave them everything they needed to provide for their independence, and we were prepared to respond, more aggressively, if Putin moved again,” Biden said of Ukraine.
Biden also called out Trump for suggesting Ukraine may have to give up territory in exchange for peace after the 2022 Russian invasion.
