Tributes pour in for MMA prodigy Victoria Lee

MANILA, Philippines—Tributes are being paid to mixed martial artist Victoria Lee.

Lee, who was only 18 years old, died last December 26. His death was announced by his sister and ONE atomweight champion Angela Lee.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Victoria Lee. I first met Victoria when she was 11 years old. I watched her blossom over the years as a martial artist and human being. I always remember thinking how wise, wise, and selfless she was beyond her years. ,” ONE CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong posted on social media.

“Of course, he was an incredible martial arts prodigy, but I could see that he was much more than that,” he said.

Team Lakay also expressed their condolences to Lee and his family.

“Tim Lakay sends our deepest condolences to the Lee Family. We are still in disbelief. Rest in Peace, Victoria,” Tim Lakay Principal Mark Sangiao wrote on social media.

“The MMA community has lost a young champion. My condolences to the Lee family,” wrote former ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio.

Lee made his ONE debut last year when he submitted Sunisa Srisan in the second round. He fought again twice in 2021 and also won by stoppage.

They are scheduled to compete again on ONE’s Prime Video 6 show on Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand.

“My deepest condolences to you and your family 🙏🏼🤍,” former atomweight competitor Denice Zamboanga said in a comment on Angela’s post about Victoria.
