The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has reacted to the death of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe MFR, a legendary Nigerian film stakeholder who left the Nigerian film industry in a sad state.

Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, the Managing Director of NFC described his death as heartbreaking, painful and sad, saying the movie industry has lost one of the best, most dedicated, perfect and hardworking stakeholders who contributed a lot to the growth of the Nigerian movie industry. .

Madueke further described the death of the founder of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) ”as a robbery of a legend whose influence in Nollywood will continue to be referenced”. Maduekwe also said, “Peace Osigwe has attracted the attention and interest of Nigerians and Africans especially the youth and upcoming filmmakers, given the ongoing and annual film training and mentoring opportunities provided through AMAA.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has mourned over the founder of AMAA and President of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) who passed away at a private hospital in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu described the 53-year-old filmmaker as an amazon of the creative sector, a trailblazer and a visionary leader, who contributed immensely to the growth and development of the creative industry in Lagos state and Nigeria as a whole.

Also, the Chairman of the Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS), Mahmood Ali-Balogun described Peace Osigwe as an amazon and a spirited leader who walks and runs the race.
