Tom Brady can regret his thoughts in 2004 “nipplegate” in Super Bowl Halftime Show.
For those who need a refresher on what happened, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake was on stage performing a hit song Rock Your Body when he suddenly tore off part of Janet’s costume and exposed her breasts to millions of viewers. After the incident, the 56-year-old singer took a lot of blame and backlash for years – which hurt her career. A Upstream documentary, title Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jacksoneven suggested the former CBS chief executive Les Moonves stopped her from taking opportunities and derailed her career after she refused to apologize to him in person for the scandal.

Meanwhile, Justin continues in the industry without any problems. Until 2021 he even apologized to Janet and Britney Spears after facing a backlash after the release of Framing Britney Spears documentary. The 42-year-old actor said at the time:
“I know that I was rushed at that time and in many others and benefited from a system that treats misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson individually, because I care and respect these women and I know if I fail.
Now, this is where Tom comes into the picture years later. Although Janet faced a lot of scrutiny, the former footballer shrugged off any wardrobe malfunctions, saying that “it’s good.” Tom said in his Friday episode Let’s go crazy! podcasts:
“I think in the end, there might be something good for it NFL because everyone has to talk about it. It’s just more publicity and more publicity for the halftime show. Is there any bad publicity? They said, who knows?”
Do you seriously say that this situation is great publicity for the NFL, a male-led sport, even if it comes at the expense of a woman’s career and reputation?! F**ked up, boy. Unsurprisingly, people on social media slammed Tom for being insensitive to everything Rhythm of the Nation the artist has passed. Read some of the Twitter reaction (below):
“Janet Jackson faced public humiliation and outright misogynoir that led to her being blacklisted by the former CEO of CBS, but Tom Brady thought it was ok because all publicity is good publicity. It hurts.”
“Tom Brady: ‘Janet Jackson is good for the NFL, because people are talking about it.’ F’d up about talking. He was blacklisted from many media outlets, award shows, MTV, VH1 Etc… He was the scapegoat for everything, but yes, keep Tom yelling at the NFL for his benefit.
“I think hell with what @JanetJackson is going through, right @TomBrady?”
“I don’t think they realize the amount of shit they did after the attack. The comments were too shallow and shallow.
“So black women’s careers and reputations are ruined and they’re mocked for years by the mainstream media, but you know, it’s good for the NFL?! That’s clearly too many knocks on the head.”
“???? He must be ashamed to treat Janet’s trauma like that.”
“Janet’s career and legacy were almost destroyed by this incident, and the only thing Tom Brady can talk about NOW after 19 years is NFL publicity?”
Tom hasn’t dealt with the backlash yet, but hopefully he’ll take some time to learn and understand the reasons behind what he’s saying before releasing some of his statements. Reaction, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments below.
