The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has strengthened his media office with the injection of two new aides.
Those appointed are Mahmud Jega as special advisor, public affairs and Abdulaziz Abdulaziz as a special assistant in media and publicity.
Until his appointment, Mr. Jega, a respected editor, was an internal analyst for Arise TV and ran a weekly column for Thisday newspaper.
He is also the editor-in-chief of the online publication, 21st Century Chronicle.
Mr. Abdulaziz, an award-winning journalist and social media influencer, rose to become the deputy editor-in-chief of Daily Trust Newspapers.
He also produces morning shows for Trust TV, an arm of the Media Trust Group.
A statement by Tinubu Media Office signed by Tunde Rahman said the two appointees will deploy expertise and deep understanding of political issues throughout the country, especially the North, in shoring up the activities of the media team.

After becoming a lecturer in biological sciences at his alma mater, Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, Mr. Jega has practiced journalism non-stop for over thirty years.

For a total of 13 years, he was managing editor, editor, deputy editor-in-chief and chairman of the Editorial Board of Daily Trust Newspapers. Before that, he served as editor, New Nigerian Newspapers, editor of The Sentinel magazine, Kaduna, and assistant editor, Citizen magazine.
Mr. Abdulaziz has experience in print, online, broadcast and social media. He has worked as a correspondent, bureau chief and regional editor for LEADERSHIP Newspaper, before joining Blueprint Newspaper which he left in 2017 as deputy editor.
Before joining Daily Trust in early 2021, Mr. Abdulaziz also worked with the frontline online newspaper, PREMIUM TIMES, as an associate editor.
