In what appears to be a homecoming for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Tinubu ballOn Tuesday at the party’s final campaign rally in Lagos, he promised to work for Nigeria if elected president.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who was physically present at the rally, raised Mr. Tinubu’s hand, again declaring him the next president of the country, God willing.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Tinubu, facing the president, said: “When you work hard for me, I will work hard for Nigeria. All the plans set out in the Action Plan for New Hope for Nigeria will be strictly implemented.
At every turn, he thanked Mr. Buhari for standing firm for democracy, accountability, transparency and justice.
“The president asked all of us who want to participate and contest the primaries of our party. After I was chosen very much by the delegates, he did not ask to change the result because of my tribe or religion or because I am not from Daura like him, he accepted me and celebrated with me, saying that you’re almost there now’.”
Mr. Tinubu also said that when it was time to choose a running mate, the president rejected the offer to choose him, telling him “you know better, you are very experienced and you know the type of person who will help you rule the country, so choose that person.”
“Thank you, Mr. President, you gave me the courage, confidence and will to make the right choice,” he said.

The APC aspirant said he chose as his running mate, Kashim Shettima, whom he described as the most intelligent and independent person.
He said that Mr. Shettima has shown determination and grit to do and be different, describing him as someone who can be trusted, trusted and courageous.
The former two-term governor of Lagos State promised to do everything in his power to pick up where Mr. Buhari left off, and consolidate his achievements.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu thanked the people of the state for turning out so much to receive Messrs. Buhari and Tinubu and also attended the rally.
