Tinubu meets APC candidates, speaks on his health, collaboration

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has reacted to speculations about his health and physical fitness to run for president.

Mr. Tinubu, during a meeting with APC aspirants in Abuja, on Sunday, said he campaigned more than his opponents despite being considered “weak.”

In attendance were the party’s gubernatorial, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.

While the presidential and National Assembly elections were held on February 25, the gubernatorial and State Assembly elections were held on March 11.

Speculation about Tinubu’s health

APC candidates face scrutiny on several aspects including health, educational record, age.

Hand tremors and apparent slurred speech have fueled speculation that it could be the early stages of Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, last week fired speculation on the health status of Mr. Tinubu, who is listening that it is just lack of sleep.

Mr. Shettima added that the principal was healthier than him.

Mr. Tinubu, 70, told APC aspirants that despite being called weak, they are working harder than their opponents to win next month’s presidential poll.

“Therefore, I ask again for the victory of all of you, as I did for myself. As you can see, He called me weak, but I continue to advance and advance and, in every corner and place of the nation.

“My opponent is not. I am working for him because this election is a big mission for me, more than my personal ambitions,” he said.

Mr. Tinubu said victory for the people and all candidates running on the APC platform in the coming election requires collaboration.

He called on all the candidates to ensure that they do their best to all the contestants in the party.

“We must act like a broom, the symbol of our party. A stick cannot clean any dirt, but together as one, we can get rid of all the bad and wrong things that hinder the growth and development of the nation.

“As individuals, we must strive to win the election. But that is not enough. We must work together to deliver all those who contest in our party. The presidential election, for example, is not only about Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is also your job.

“We need each other. Whatever position you are in, you need me as much as I need you. If I work for you, I help myself; If you are mobilizing for me, you are also working for yourself,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Adamu, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, many party governors as well as members of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
