Tinubu in Kebbi, promises to boost agriculture, revive Argungu Fishing Festival

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has promised the people of Kebbi State major investments that will boost the state’s agricultural profile.

Speaking while addressing the APC presidential campaign rally at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Friday, Mr. Tinubu commended farmers in the state for their revolutionary efforts, especially in rice farming.

A statement signed on behalf of Tinubu Media Office by Abdulaziz Abdulaziz quoted the former governor of Lagos State as saying “We want to invest in education and agro-allied industries to make prosperity a very simple thing.

“We will manage our water resources to ensure that Nigeria becomes a leading agricultural country in Africa,” the statement said.

The APC presidential candidate also promised to revive the now defunct Argungu Fishing Festival and make it a tourist destination in Nigeria.

Mr. Tinubu, who acknowledged Kebbi’s exploits in rice production and how to forge a close partnership between the state and Lagos, said his administration would encourage the partnership across the country.

Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu and the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who addressed the meeting, urged them to vote for the APC presidential candidate because of their past investment in developing democracy in the state.

Mr. Malami reminded the gathering that the APC administration had made huge investments in agriculture, social welfare and infrastructure, saying it was time to pay them back by electing Mr. Tinubu and other candidates of the party.

He said Mr. Tinubu shared many similarities with President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that if elected he would consolidate the gains recorded by the Buhari administration.

The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, thanked the crowd for the rally, advising them to vote for Mr. Tinubu because of his good track record. .

Among those who attended the rally were Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara) and Babagana Zulum (Borno).

Others are Senate Leader, Ibrahim Gobir; former governor Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto); Mahmud Shinkafi (Zamfara) and Saidu Dakingari (Kebbi).
