It has been on the cards for months – an election in Mid Beds where Nadine Dorries has been an MP since GE2010.
What led to this was the report that he was to be appointed to the House of Lords. Bettting has started in “Election” and LD has sent in the campaign team. The only problem now is that there are no vacancies.
We now know that he was indeed forwarded by Johnson as part of his resignation honors but this was blocked by the Lords committee which advised on the matter.
Sunak may have made the decision but it is clear that he did not. As a result, it is difficult to see a route for the Dorries to become friends and otherwise there will be no vacancy and no election.
The only way this could still be done is if Nadine decides to stop being an MP of her own free will and there are no signs of her doing so.
