Thanks to David Cowling for compiling the table above which gives a real sense of how the political environment has changed since 2019 when most seats on Thursday were finally up for grabs.
The fact that it has an average 15% lead today compared to 4% four years ago shows that Starner’s Labor should have a lot to gain from the Tories.
I tend to think the purpose of the LAB vote is to signal anti-Tory and people will vote in the election for the local party they think can best defeat the Conservatives.
One of the reasons why the Lib Dem campaign intensified in places where they thought they had a chance was to establish in the minds of voters that they were a challenger.
