BATON ROUGE, La.- No. 1 LSU opened the season with a 10-0 win over Western Michigan 10-0 on Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
Paul Skenes earned the win for the Tigers with 12 strikeouts and allowed one walk, giving up just three hits over six innings.
Christian Little picked up where Skenes left off, pitching two perfect innings and striking out half of the six batters he faced.
Micah Bucknam closed out the game, working the ninth inning and giving up just one run on offense.
Three LSU pitchers combined to hold the Broncos to just three hits overall while striking out 16 total.
The Tigers also put up some bats, collecting a total of 10 hits – led by Dylan Crews with two.
