Tories paying the price for Brexit?
We are used to the Tories being the party that attracts the large private donations that make this political development visible. It was a big win for Starmer not just for the campaign cash the party received, but for its resources and cause.
The FT report notes that the big driver of these donations is Brexit and the Tories should hope that this is not the start of a pattern.
Because even if Starmer remains ambivalent about Brexit, there is no doubt that Brext has not gone down with the industrialists who can make millions in political donations.
For Labour, this is more than just a lot of money, but an indication that its support base is wider than when Corbyn was in charge.
